Charlie is a farmer’s son who grew up in a village outside Tiverton. Being around animals from a young age inspired him to pursue a veterinary career. On finishing his A levels at Exeter College, Charlie started vet school at Cambridge. While at university Charlie met his wife Janet. They married before he started his final year. While at university Charlie started to develop his interest in orthopaedics.

Upon qualifying in 2002 Charlie started his career working in a small animal practice in Hampshire. He moved back to Devon upon the birth of his first child. While in Devon he worked in mixed practice in Okehampton before taking up a position in Exeter working as a sole charge vet in a small animal practice.

Milestone Veterinary Centre realises Charlie’s ambition to own and run a veterinary surgery. Working together with Angela, Charlie is intending to develop Milestone Veterinary Centre into a caring, understanding practice that builds strong links with the local community as well as providing a high standard of veterinary care.

Charlie
Angela

Angela came over to the UK in 1999 from Zimbabwe where she had the wonderful privilege of growing up in the African bush as her parents were farmers.  Her love of animals and desire to be a vet began from a very early age watching the vets work with her dad’s cattle and horses.
She received her veterinary degree from the University of Zimbabwe and graduated in 1998. She then came to the UK to further her studies and obtained membership to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons 2000. Angela then took her first job in Southampton working for Beech House Veterinary Centre where she stayed for the next 7 years. As time passed Angela started to yearn for a more rural life and the beautiful country side of Devon beckoned.  She first moved to Somerset and then onto Devon in 2009 where she feels she has truly settled.  In her spare time Angela spends as much time as possible enjoying the wonderful Devon countryside usually accompanied by her partner and the newest member of her family, a little Jaxidack dog called Maisie. She also enjoys horse riding, playing tennis and has the inevitable southern hemisphere passion for rugby and cricket.

Claire

Claire has always loved animals and has wanted to work as a vet from a very young age. Upon graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2015, she was excited to be offered the opportunity to move to Devon where she had spent many happy family holidays whilst growing up. Claire is interested in all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery, and looks forward to getting to know Milestone’s clients and their pets. Outside of work Claire enjoys walking and climbing the tors on Dartmoor and visiting the coast.

Catrina

Catrina grew up in Oxfordshire where she spent her spare time riding or walking various (badly behaved!) family dogs up and down the Cotswold hills. She has lived in Spain for a year and has worked with different charities helping all types of animals, from alpacas to street dogs to working horses. Catrina studied at the University of Bristol to realise her life-long dream of being a vet and she loves getting to meet and help all the furry (and non-furry!) faces here at Milestone. Since graduating, she has moved to Devon with her long-term partner where she seems to really enjoy sub-zero surfing, trail running in the dark and getting very lost up wet and windy Dartmoor!

Michelle

Michelle has had a love of animals and an ambition to work with them for as long as she can remember. She qualified from Glasgow vet school in 2001 and realised her childhood dream to live by the sea and ride horses on the beach by working in North Devon. In 2006 she moved with her husband to South Devon where she now feels she has put down permanent roots. She has always worked in first opinion small animal practice, enjoying the role a GP vet has in improving the lives of our furry family members, with a particular interest in internal medicine. She joined the milestone team in November 2014 and spends the rest of her time mollycoddling her 2 young sons, her elderly horse and her hand-reared cat.

Caitlin grew up in Melbourne and was only in nursery when she first declared she was going to become a vet. After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2005, she went on to realise her dream of specialising in racehorses, working in both Melbourne and Sydney, her claim to fame being that she has treated multiple runners in the Melbourne Cup! Following a shoulder injury she turned to small animals and enjoys all aspects of general practice with a particular interest in clinical nutrition and ultrasonography.Caitlin moved to Devon  three years ago with her fiancĂ© to take over his family business. When she is not working at the clinic or helping him, she loves exploring Devon and everything country life in the south west has to offer with their two year old Labrador Tilly.
